Props

For the past few days now, I've been making up a few props for my upcoming newborn session. I've seen so many neat ideas out there, so I thought maybe I could try a hand at it myself. These are the few that I've made so far....

I saw almost the exact same design as this but they were on clip in
hair barrettes, which I figured would be to harsh on a baby's head, so I e-created them and stuck them on a head band instead.

This was the first prop I made. I'm pretty proud how it turned out, and am super excited to make more    and fiddle around with the design :)

Oh, and I know your probably thinking, if these are for your newborn shoot, why are they displayed on a full head of hair haha. Well originally my friends daughter was going to model them for me (although she is 3 and has plenty of hair too), but unfortunately the poor girl is sick. So.... I had the idea to use my wig stand (thats right I have a wig stand lol), but it looked rather strange. Without the wig, the mannequin head looks rather alien, not the look I was going for haha So you will just have to wait and see how it turns out at the session!

It's A Girl!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Sarissa (and baby Banks ) for this wonderful maternity session. Despite the snow on the ground, the sun really stepped it up for us. It was actually pretty entertaining, the warmer it got the more Jordan, aka my assistant haha, had to carry for us. He was quite the trooper considering we had him holding a bright pink bag, full to the brim with coats, shoes....you name it! He looked like a human coat rack lol You'd think I would be commending Sarissa considering she's the one who was 9months pregnant and the terrain wasn't exactly in the most suitable conditions. Honestly though, she rocked it out hard. I mean c'mon the woman was wearing heels at one point! (photos you'll have to stay tuned for...) Here are a few of my favourites from the session....

I am off the wall happy to announce that since our session, Sarissa and Christian have welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their family. Vega Tempest Banks is her name and she's a teeny tiny little thing weighing only 6lbs & 3oz! I am majorly looking forward to our newborn session in the next week. In preparation I've purchased some supplies to attempt to make some props at home :) I'm gonna give it my best go and see how it turns out.
Well, I'm off to the store to pick up the last little details and get started. Have a great day, I'll be back with an update soon!

Bring On The Sun!

I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly happy this stretch of gorgeous weather has made me. I love waking up at 7am and being able to go for a walk without packing on layers of scarves, hats, gloves and other annoying winter get-up. There's always plenty of other dogs out and about for Cooper to play with, and there's so many cute little kids at the park all trying to get Cooper's attention. It's pretty darn cute and Cooper love, love, loves the attention haha. If Spring is being this kind to us weather wise, I am fully ready to embrace Summer :)
Here's a little catch of my Project 365!
Thursday, April 14, Day 104 - Almost ready for Easter. All I need now is the chocolate :D
Friday, April 15, Day 105 - I'm not sure about your area, but up north we're having some pretty lovely weather!
Saturday, April 16, Day 106 - Cooper, not surprisingly met a new friend (Festus) at the park yesterday. I was so busy talking with Festus's owner that I barely took any photos. Fortunately I got a couple before we headed our separate ways. This was literally one of the only ones where they were standing still lol. You can't see the tired look on Coop's face, but you can tell by Festus's tongue that they were pretty tired after playing. It was pretty funny to watch the pair chase each other around and then take quick breaks to eat what was left of the melting snow piles. I wouldn't mind having my own Festus as a brother for Cooper....maybe one day.

Happy Sunday everybody!

Time Flies

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I myself had a really good time down in Grande Prairie. The weather turned out to be quite enjoyable, and it was almost t-shirt weather for our maternity session on Sunday. All in all we were very please with the turnout. The only downfall from trekking off the beaten path in farm country is......no internet haha. Well not on my computer anyhow, so you're getting to see my Project 365 photos a tad late. As they say "better late than never!".

Day 98- Cooper and his very straight tail having a wrestling match with Kolson.

Day 99- Spooner and Missy enjoying the sunset after a nice warm day.

Day 100 of 365!!! - Dodo found a nice warm spot on Jordan's legs to take a nice long cat nap haha.

Day 101- After the long drive home from Grande Prairie, we figured Cooper deserved to have a puppy play date with his best pal Lucy. He was enjoying it until she found his bone lol.

In the next week  I believe we will be heading back to Grande Prairie to welcome our new niece or nephew into this crazy world! I can't wait <3

Talk to you soon, Britt*

It's Official....

Ahhh What a beautiful day! I think I'm going to go ahead and say Spring is officially here. Wow, that feels nice to say :) As happy as the snow made me these past months, I think I'll be just as happy to see it go. If not happier haha
I have so much to look forward to these coming months, and the excitement is really starting to build. Of all the great things soon to come, I think I'm most excited for my new niece or nephew to arrive! Not knowing if the baby is a boy or girl is starting to kill the shopper in me haha I see sooo many cute baby things in the stores and online and a good majority of what I've seen (well what I've liked haha)  have been gender specific :( pooey lol I've also had the urge lately to learn to knit....is that a common craving? haha wanting to learn to knit? I think it's all been brought on by the baby excitement. I've seen some really neat ideas and wish I had the knowledge to execute them myself....one day soon!!
Apart from the future things I'm excited for, these are a few photos from things I've done over the past few days.  I wasn't able to keep caught up on my Project 365 while I was away ( I had no computer ) so here ya go!
Day 90- Hank embracing the calm. After Lucy left (one of Cooper's puppy friends), Hank felt it was safe to come out from hiding haha

Day 91 & 92 -currently in search of my memory card ....... :(

Day 93- Moss. Just another thing my dog has discovered he enjoys eating. Yum!?
Day 94-  So much for puppies not on the couch....they're just too cute to say no!
Day 95- Cooper and I were trying to do a little training session at the park. I'm proud to say he was very successful in staying put while other dogs walked by. As you can see he was pretty tempted haha
Day 96- It was so nice to step away from the computer today and just hang out. Tracy came by to rescue my eyes from going square, staring at this computer screen all day haha. Instead I oggled at the cute animals. Harley here is the cutest chubbiest lil fella you ever did see. I absolutely adore him.
I had a wonderful surprise b-day weekend, but I'm definitely playing catch up now. Still totally worth it :D

I feel so much better being caught up on this project at least. Now it's back to work for me. I hope you all have a great night!!

P.S. Keep your fingers crossed I find my memory card, THANK YOU!!!!
