Top Ten Reasons I Love The Holiday Season!

I know there are literally thousands of wonderful reasons the Holidays season is so special, but I've managed to dwindle my list down to the Top Ten.  Keep in mind it was hard enough to pick only ten so they are not in any special order.

1. Being with loved ones
2. Decorating the Tree
3. Sending Holiday Cards
4. Getting surprise packages in the mail
5. Wrapping gifts
6. Baking
7. Seeing the neighbourhood decked out in lights
8. Random acts of kindness
9. Seeing the kids faces light up at the mall when they see Santa
10. Classic Holiday movies

We may love the Holidays for different reasons, or even celebrate different Holidays all together but I truly feel this time of year brings people closer together despite the many differences in our lives. Which is another reason I love this time of year...okay I know I know thats eleven reasons now haha I couldn't help myself :p
No mater what your up to the next week or so and even into the New Year I hope your all enjoying it with your favourite things!

Manic Monday

If your anything like me then Monday always seems to sneak up out of nowhere. No matter how much I prepare for the start of the week, I always feel surprised at how fast it arrives. Honestly if it wasn't for Wal-Mart staying open 24hrs over the Holidays I wouldn't have accomplished half of the tasks on my list. I wish they would keep their Holiday hours all year round, it's great for hermits like Jordan and myself lol. The fewer the people the better! Not that I have anything against people, I just don't like having to wrestle anyone to the ground for the last string of indoor lights or get in a yelling match over whose parking spot it was first....It was mine by the way! Haha Anyhow I hope you all survived your Monday and are ready for the Holiday festivities to begin :D

My Very First Turkey Dinner

Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed this past long weekend. I know I'm still extremely full from the massive amounts of food I thought my body could handle haha It's rude to say no to dessert...right!?
Anyhow, If your like me you decided this was the year to tackle your first turkey dinner. I figured I had seen my mom and grandma do it for years, and I should basically own shares in the Food Network, so I made the commitment ( even being as bold as having others witness the results!).
We decided (Jessica and I) to have our dinner on Sunday evening with a couple close friends, who wouldn't judge if things got out of hand haha Being completely honest with you, our biggest worry was burning the turkey to a crisp as we had seen on t.v time and time again, but luckily our turkey was probably the juiciest turkey I've had to date :) Now I normally wouldn't say that so openly, at the risk of hurting anyone's feelings, but I am so darn proud that I can't help but share that tid bit! I wish you were all there to see us marvel at our surprisingly successful feast. Maybe next year you'll be able to make it lol
Anywho, here are a few pictures from our evening, I hope they get your excitement flaring for the next Holiday meal.....

Putting the veggies in the turkey's rear haha

Having some snacks while we cook.
 OOOooo only 43 mins left!!

Turkey time!!

I found the cutest little pumpkins to decorate the table with :)

My cute $4 find, an owl banner displaying the word Autumn.
Now I'm looking forward to carving my pumpkins :)

Have a great week!

My kids....Sort of!

If you own pets, you probably know how big of a bond grows between you and those furry four legged creatures (or however many legs your pet may have).  I would even come as close as to say they are somewhat like your children, whether you have human children or not.  Believe me, if you saw my mom and her dog you'd see that last statement to be completely true lol  (Sorry mom I know you love us, but that dog is straight up spoiled haha). In all honestly I'm also guilty of spoiling mine, and other peoples pets. It's so hard not to give into puppy dog eye's or cute kitty cuddles, or a bird song (if that's your thing, I am actually terrified of birds...but thats another story). Anyway, back to my point. I love my pets, or kids as I refer to them haha and I know you love yours too! I constantly see the cutest photos on Facebook, Flikr and all those other lovely social media sites and It made me really excited to stroll down memory lane and take a peak at my "kids" growing up. Not only that, but we just recently added a new addition to our crew, and I figured this was the perfect time to show him off. So without further a due, lets get this stroll started..

This is my extremely sensitive, anti-social kitty Hank. Although she is a female I really wanted to name her Hank, and if you knew her you'd see that it actually fits perfectly haha She's very unique!

Here we have Hank's sister Dolly. Because they're from the same litter they are fairly alike, other than Dolly is a bit more outgoing, and is a lot more vocal.

These are a few of my favourite photos of Cooper when we first brought him home. I wish he could have stayed that cute cuddly thing forever. He was the best puppy I have ever had, or even known in my entire life. We truly lucked out when we picked him out of the litter!

Then we come to Cooper now. One year old, and a new big brother :) Despite the fact that I spend literally all day with Coop, going to the park, playing etc...He needed a buddy, soo........

we got him a puppy! I must admit Cooper wasn't the only one who was eager to have another dog around. After scouring the internet for months, we finally dropped by the SPCA and as soon as I saw little Waylen here, I had decided.

He had a very similar temperament to Cooper so we figured he would make a good match. I know I've said this before but I really encourage you to adopt a pet if you have the means. It's a great thing to do for the animals and it make you feel pretty darn good too!!

As usual when it comes to a new family edition, I am very excited to document Waylen and his time spent with us. I also hope you enjoy seeing and hearing about these four kritters, because I am very excited to share!

Summer Snappn'

Hello everyone. It has been far too long since I last sat down and caught everyone up on things in my little bubble (whether your interested or not haha). So here goes it......
Since Jake's passing (Jordan, my bf's, younger brother passed tragically this June), everything has taken a little while to get back to normal which ironically is normal for this type of situation. We are about two months passed and although it is still very bizarre, the day to day routine has slowly come back into play He was honestly the best guy you could ever have the honour of spending time with, which has made it that much harder for everyone to deal with the news. I must say to those of you who have wrote to the Lawrence family or myself or  even just thought of Jake thank you so much, it really has helped. I know his family appreciates every word and thought. With that being said, although our visit home was due to terrible circumstances we ended up having a good time getting to know family and friends again, which was a really nice silver lining. We are also very excited to be welcoming Hayden Jacob Lawrence ,Jake and his lovely girlfriend Cynthia's baby boy, who is expected this fall! ( I can't wait to snap photo's of the little bean :D )
While we were back home on the island we took the time to putter around and visit a close handful of family and friends. Here are a few of my fav photos from our travels.

A bumble bee collecting pollen in Jill's garden. I'm lucky I didn't get stung, he wasn't all that pleasant haha.

Catch of the day!

Kate had these really cool starfish as decoration in her house. I thought they were picture worthy :)

Lovely lilies.

My boy Cooper, almost one year old! My how fast they grow hehe

The scenic view in my hometown of Campbell River

Love this. Beautiful baby Vega, 11wks

Vega and mommy sharing a moment in the back garden.

Stunning baby girl Isabella, 8 months

Another adorable shot of my bestie Jessica's daughter Bella. Honestly, how cute!?

Last but definitely not least, my absolute favourite photo of Summer 2011. Jordan and our lil' niece Vega. I love the sun flare, and that giant baby smile. Melts my heart, big time!!

Well thats what I've been doing. What about you? I certainly hope your all having a wonderful summer. Make sure to have fun and be safe! Till next time, Britt xo

My absence....

Hello everyone.
You may or may not have noticed I've been absent for the past little while. We've suffered a tremendous loss in our family and are currently taking time to spend together with loved ones. Thank you very much for your kind words and positive thoughts, I will be sure to share them all with the family.
I have fallen behind in my efforts to complete Project 365 and have decided to start it again next year. I wouldn't feel I had fully completed it with a giant gap in the middle. I will however continue to share with you the photos I take over the Summer and hope you enjoy those as well. Thanks again, I look forward to being reacquainted with you all :)

I Heart Long Weekends!

I hope you're all enjoying your long weekend. I know I've been having fun soaking up the sun and cooking absolutely everything on the bbq!! lol Here are the past few photos from Project 365 that I was unable to post on Facebook (technical difficulties a.k.a. technology doesn't like me much). So here ya go.......

Day 139 - A beautiful evening walk in the park. I like how they have neat street lamps in my neighbourhood as opposed to the regular old lamp posts. It gives it and old-school feel I really like.

Day 140 - Jordan and I took Coop to play at the park, and Jordan ended up having the most fun haha There is nothing funnier than watching a 25yr old man pretend to be 5 again. Pretty darn cute if you ask me.

Day 141 - The smoke from all of the wildfire going on around us made our walk a little depressing. Originally the photo was in color but the smoke ruined it so I changed it to B&W. I'm excited to get this one printed and send it off to my mom (she talks about Cooper as if he's her grandson haha it's pretty funny).

Day 142 - Took a quick walk by the Snye River today. Wasn't much action on the river, but the weeds to the side were rather charming. It's amazing how something referred to as a weed could be so pretty :)

Day 143 - Good morning everyone! Cooper and I found these cute Buttercups on our  morning walk. Luckily I was able to take a picture before Coop realized how darn tasty they were haha.

Happy Victoria Day! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

My Life In Pictures : Project 365

My Life In Pictures : Project 365

Day 123 - Another beautiful evening in my neighbourhood.......
Day 124 - They're back! The caterpillars that is. I don't remember them being around this early in the season, but as we discovered they're setting up camp.
Day 125 - We arrived in Grande Prairie and found Dodo here having a little nap. I love him not only because he looks exactly like my two lil munckin cats, but because he's off the wall! The spunkiest cat I've met :)
Day 126 - In honour of Mother's Day weekend, I thought Sally here deserved a little shout out. The proud mama gave birth to five little kittens the day before we arrived in GP. They were holding down the fort in the bottom of the hay shed so unfortunately I couldn't nab a photo of them. I will make sure to track them down next visit, and show you how big they've grown!
Day 127 - I'm not sure who the BBQ was more fun for. The people, or the dogs haha There were seven dogs running around playing together that day. I think it would be appropriate to call it doggy paradise haha. I was trying to get a photo of Zoe's beautiful ice blue eyes, but you can imagine the difficulty I was presented trying to chase around 7 dogs and separate them....it didn't happen. This was a happy accident of sorts...
Day 128 - We did Vega's very first photo shoot today! She's absolutely perfect!
Day 129 - Back home from Grande Prairie this evening. It was the perfect night to come home to...
Day 130 - My little boy just keeps growing. I know this may be a biased opinion, but he's the best puppy ever!
Day 131 - Cooper sat under this light post for a good 5 minutes, staring at the little bird. He's obsessed with birds lately, which I suppose goes with his breed being a retriever and all. I'm almost positive he's hoping they'll play with him haha

I have a few more photos to upload, but my camera bag along with my camera are in the truck. This normally wouldn't be a problem but Jordan's at work, and I'm pretty sure he has the keys with him.....or I lost them, and I'm certainly not ready to admit to that hahaha. I will be sure to upload them as soon as the key's are located!! Happy Friday everybody, I hope your weekend is fantastic!
